It's our week to be in the news! Feeling stressed about finals projects and papers? Research shows that interacting with dogs reduces blood-pressure.  For finals week the library is offering furry friends to help you reduce your stress!

Library Party!!! Monday, April 16th


Champlain students are excellent! And our library just won the ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries award. Let's celebrate our mutual excellence together. Join us Monday, April 16th from 4-5:15pm on the first floor of the library for this party of excellence. It's pretty much like winning the Superbowl of academic libraries so there will be music, we'll be giving out food, swag, and students can enter to win a Nook e-reader! Don't miss this event. After all, there "ain't no party like a library party."

DISPLAY: Annual International Photo Contest


Be sure to come in and view the International Photo competition submissions now on display on the main floor of the Miller Information Commons. And while you're here, don't forget to submit a vote for the "people's choice" award. You might also find a moment to browse through some of the books in our display on photography and place.

The library will host an awards reception to announce the winners on Wednesday, April 18th, from 2-3 on the main floor of the Miller Information Commons. All are welcome. Refreshments included!

DISPLAY: March is Women's History Month

March is a great month! It is a month to celebrate the arrival of Spring and the month when we celebrate Women! Our library has put together a great display of books about women. From Helen Keller to Madeleine Albright, we have a wonderful collection of books featuring women and their roles in history. The display will be up the entire month of March, located at the circulation desk. Enjoy!

LIBRARY WINS EXCELLENCE AWARD!

Our library has been selected as the recipient of this year's ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries Award in the College Library category. We were selected in part because of our "nontraditional approach to instruction and positive student-driven environment." We're very excited and honored to receive this award and it's a testament to all the dedication, creativity, and fun that our team brings to the library. 

New Films on Demand Database

We recently purchased access to the business and economics collection from Films on Demand. This is a collection of educational videos on topics in f Business Education; Business Technology; Economics; Ethics & Business Law; Finance, Accounting & Taxation; Management; and Marketing. DISPLAY: Self-Portraits

Stop by the library to enjoy a sampling of COR 110 student self-portraits. The works on display represent the efforts of members of the class of 2014 to integrate their learning in art, psychology, neuroscience, and literature to produce their own self-portraits at semester’s end.

For the first time, we’re showcasing children’s books added to the Library’s collection during 2011, including the most recent Caldecott (A Sick Day for Amos McGee, Philip Stead) and Newbery (Moon over Manifest, Clare Vanderpool) winners.
