NEWS: Two new databases!
Two new online resources are now available through the Library website:
“Choice: Current Reviews for Academic Libraries” is the premier source for reviews of academic books, electronic media, and Internet resources of interest to those in higher education. This is one of the primary sources that we use in the library to review new academic books, from which Hanna Bachrach can send reviews in your subject area to you. Now, you can also access Choice Reviews directly if you wish. In addition to browsing or searching for book reviews, if you complete a “Profile” you will receive a monthly newsletter listing the titles reviewed in the new issue that match you've selected. For more information, see Top Tips for Using the New Choice Reviews Online.
“Underground and Independent Comics, Comix, and Graphic Novels” is the first ever scholarly, primary source database focusing on adult comic books and graphic novels. While it may sound funny at first, this database was acquired specifically to support Champlain’s new MFA program, and is a treasure trove for designers specializing in sequential art. Beginning with the first underground comix from the 1960’s to the works of modern sequential artists, this collection will contain more than 75,000 pages of comics and graphic novels, along with 25,000 pages of interviews, criticism, and journal articles that document the continual growth and evolution of this artform.
